How this works

Hack the Sack is the global leaderboard for hacky sack circles. You get some friends, you stand in a circle, you keep a small bean-filled sack off the ground with your feet, and you tell the world how it went. The world, in turn, ranks you.

What's a full hack?

A full hack is the whole point: the sack goes around the circle and every player kicks it at least once before it touches the ground — and nobody hogs it (three consecutive kicks max before it leaves your feet). Drop it, start again, count the ones you land. Solo sessions count plain hacks — a full hack implies friends.

The rules

• No hands. Feet, knees, chest, head — all fine. Hands and arms are for flailing, not for saving.
• No self-serves. Your serve is a gift to someone else. You don't get to kick your own opening toss.
• No stalls. Keep it moving — no trapping the sack on your shoe, knee, or chest to catch a breather. Stalls are for freestylers; circles keep the sack alive.
• Three kicks, tops. No more than three consecutive kicks by any one player before a pass. It's a circle, not a solo show.

Everything else is the honor system. It's hacky sack.

Circles, friends, and the board

Make a circle with a fun name and add your friends by typing their names — nobody else needs an account. You can speak for the whole circle. If a friend wants to log sessions themselves, show them their claim card (a QR code): they scan it, click one emailed link, and inherit every hack ever logged for them.

Then log sessions: when, where, who showed up, how many full hacks. Circles compete in divisions by headcount — your five-person sessions rank against other five-person sessions, your solo ones against other loners — across daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, and all-time boards.

FAQ

Do my friends need to sign up?

No. Members are just names in your circle, and you can log everything for everyone. Accounts only matter when a friend wants to log sessions too — that's what claim cards are for.

What if someone misses a session?

Full hacks count whoever was present. Absent friends don't spoil anything — the session simply ranks in the division matching how many of you showed up that day.

Can I play alone?

Absolutely. Solo sessions rank in the Solo division and count plain hacks — how you count a solo hack is between you and your conscience.

Who can log sessions?

Any member of the circle who has claimed an account. Everyone logs equally; nobody's the boss of the sack.

What stops people from making numbers up?

Nothing. It's the honor system, and it's hacky sack. Divisions keep the comparisons roughly fair; shame handles the rest.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Install it from your browser (Add to Home Screen) — pages you've visited work without signal, and a session logged in the middle of nowhere posts itself when you're back in range.

When does the "Today" board reset?

Sessions carry the date you say they happened, in your own timezone. No clock math, no midnight-UTC nonsense.

What do you do with my email address?

We don't even store it — only a scrambled fingerprint that lets you sign in. We couldn't email you beyond the sign-in link if we wanted to, and we don't want to. The promise has the full rant.
